Nationally ranking Colorado hospitals mull long-term impacts of COVID-19 on health care

UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora once again ranked No. 1 in the state, according to the 2020-21 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Rankings.

Three Colorado hospitals — University of Colorado Hospital, National Jewish Health and Craig Hospital — all ranked well in various specialties on the list.

But even as they celebrate their rankings, Colorado hospitals are focused on how the Covid-19 pandemic is changing the future of health care.

“This is a respiratory virus and there can be no more important time for a hospital system like National Jewish Health to take care of as many people as we can,” said Dr. Michael Salem, CEO of National Jewish. The hospital has ranked No. 1 or 2 in pulmonology for 24 years. This year it ranked No. 2 and shares the spot with University of Colorado Hospital, its academic partner.
